Week7, Chapter 2(Slokas 29-42) Chants

Here we are in week 7 and I am late for this week . I am trying to catch up and hope we can make for lost schedule in March. I covered the Chants and as all my earlier video I do cover my understanding so incase you have been missing those please read and have you feedbacks. Happy Weekend to all of you.

Buddhi- Yoga (An enlightened intellect)

Week 7, shlokas 38-51- chapter two. As Shri Krishna begins talking about the ‘ Buddhi- yoga’ (yoga attained through the enlightened intellect- Buddhi ). As the intellect- that which understands that performing duties without desiring/ attaching with the outcome is an enlightened intellect- the ‘ sadbuddhi ’. And the one who is blessed with such kind of sadbuddhi remains free from the pains and pleasures related to birth and death. Is liberated from paap and punyas ( the bad deeds and the good deeds). It is subtle (the sadbuddhi ), and the three ' gunas' , ‘ sattva ’, ‘ rajah ’, and the ‘ tamas ’ cannot penetrate it. Such enlightened intellect makes one completely fearless. Such a being enjoys the blessings of this life and at the same time attains his ‘ moksha ’. Even if he performs a ritual, which is interrupted/destroyed by some factors, he will suffer no ill effects. Even if such  buddhi is in an exceedingly small amount— it should not be underestimated. Such an enligh

A grace bestowed from the heavens (Reflections on 'Gnyana- yoga')

Week 6, chapter 2 shlokas 24-37   Free from the cycle of birth and death, free of any labels and is purest. It (the atma- tattwa ) cannot be drowned, burnt, or dried up. It is actionless and one ‘eternal constant’. It cannot be found through arguing and cannot be estimated/ measured. It is flawless and omnipresent and is always desired by the yogies. Krishna talks about birth, death, and rebirth and the cycle of life and death. Now in the shloka 28, Krishna talks about the formless nature of existence— that every being who is born is formless before his birth. And after the birth, they take a form and attain a rhythm ( laya). After attaining laya , they cannot change their form but will acquire an unexpressed state of their own being . All the visuals they encounter between birth and death are like a dream while they exist in that form. All the form and visuals, all the matter is the influence of Maya —is Maya itself. He talks about the existence of this omnipresent tatt

Thus begin the song of Krishna

In the next 14 shlokas ( shloka 10-23, chapter 2- week 5) , as Shri Krishna begins his dialogue, it contains knowledge that is too much to absorb in a week’s time…so I decided to read it more than once. Gyaneshwari, should not be approached like a textbook or a common book of any sort—it is in my opinion meant to be read, absorbed, read again, reflected, and to be meditated upon again and again. My notes— First, Krishna points out Arjuna's ignorance . That without knowing the truth, how he can judge a situation. And the truth is, that he himself is unaware of his own truth and so how would he be able to understand the truth of others? Second, Krishna points towards ‘ Singularity ’, that the whole cosmos and the world is governed by one force and all the rules and protocols are decided and designed by that one singular force only. Human beings being a part of that design. Third, Krishna talks about maya , the illusory nature of reality. That how we perceive the world is just an ill

Week 6 , Chapter 2 (Sloaks 15-28) Chants

So here I am with the slokas for week6  . I have covered the slokas and brief interpretation of Arjuns condition and in fact we all face  these in our day to day interactions. Please do go through the videos and as always provide your feedbacks.

Becoming Arjuna

The cosmic song that decided to manifest in front of Arjuna, is playing all around. As the energy can neither be created nor destroyed—says Krishna when he talks about the singularity, the atma -tattva or param chaitanya . And for a more rational mind, if this is to be taken as a hypothesis, we can say that while reading the text of Geeta, and if one is really deserving to receive the knowledge as it was given to Arjuna, one must understand that Arjuna was no ordinary human being. A warrior of great valor, a genuine, brave, and sensitive personality—someone who attained his capability of becoming ‘ dwij ’ the 'twice born'. The battlefield, the war, and the turmoil to be taken as breaking of the shell as a bird who symbolizes the twice-born—first in the form of an egg and second when the egg breaks and the bird is born.   Here I mean to say that the one who has attained the maturity of the egg just before it is broken, the quality to be twice-born, the song of the cosmos th

Arjuna’s arguments

I feel like taking a pause and listen more to Arjuna’s arguments. I should be talking about Krishna’s dialogue as he will just begin in our shlokas targeted for this week…but for a long time I was feeling like reading Arjuna’s arguments again and again.   When we read Geeta, we look forward to what Krishna has said…. But to actually read Geeta, I feel one has to become a good listener. the whole narrative of the dialogue is in the form of questions and answers. And when Arjuna begins to speak about his turmoil and concerns even then one must listen. Arjuna’s arguments tell a lot about his personality and thought process—the thought process of a true seeker. How deep can he sense what is going to come? What his actions would result? what is important and what has to be given up? Something that goes deep into the roots of the problems and hits his conscious. But to travel that deep requires a certain kind of sensitivity and genuineness- and that probably brought to him the song of the co

Arjuna-- the chosen one

Reflections on Week 4 chapter 2 (shlokas 43-47 from chapter 1 and 1- 9 from chapter 2) Arjuna, just before the epic war begins, goes into a state of turmoil. Attachments, compassions towards his kith and kins, and his sense of righteousness are challenged. He could clearly see the outcome of the war and like any sensible human being he was disturbed by the decision taken by the two armies as the mass murder will only destroy the families and society as a whole and the devastation caused is going to be irreplaceable. He also argues that by doing something wrong like killing your brothers and elders is only going to destroy the sense of righteousness among the clan and will eventually lead the whole linage into immorality. Arjuna’s arguments in a way reflect the conflicts that go on in the heart and head of modern humans as we get into a family system and see the rules and regulations laid for the benefit and righteous functionality of the society sometimes are manipulated to satis

Week 5 , Chapter 2(Slokas 1-14) Chants

Friends , Now we are in Chapter 2 and here is when we will realize the confusion created by emotions and intelligence can only be clear by proper guidance.  Most of people dont realise they are miserable,  some who realise they are miserable enjoy their misery by seeking attention and only few want to come out of misery and they seek solutions or guidance. It is said the guidance should only be given to one who seeks earnestly  else they will not value whatever Road map you provide them. Having a guru / mentor in any field can help you leap frog in any stream you are.
